Plants of the Main Campus

The plants on campus are a mixture of native species and various non-natives, chosen for various reasons over the years. These are the vast array of "greenery" that surrounds us on campus, that all too often, we take for granted running from one class to the next. Some are common species available at most any local garden store, while others are truly intriguing and even unique. All were planted for their ability to do well in the local climate, however, subtle variation in microclimates (light, wind, humidity) from one location on campus to another makes it possible for some species to survive in particular locations that otherwise might not, e.g., the Tree Ferns.
