Prickly Sculpin

Etymology: Cottus = Latin word for sculpins; asper = rough
These fishes like to nest in caves. The female lays the eggs and the male guards them. While they normally use caves made from digging out under rocks, they are sometimes found nesting in the Lower American River in discarded wide-mouth beer cans!
