About MA in Behavioral Science / Gender Equity Studies
About This Program
The Master of Arts in Education, Gender Equity Studies, offers a special study area in Women’s Studies and Education Issues. The program offers the opportunity to develop an understanding of the many political and social issues affecting women in schools — and the chance to become change agents.
The program prepares graduates to educate others about social gender constructs and gender-fair practices in schools, government, non-profit agencies, the public sector, and in universities. Graduates from this program will have the skills to address issues of equity, diversity, anti-racism, and intersectionality in schooling and the workplace.

Graduates from the program have continued on to become:
- Title IX compliance coordinators
- Legislative Aides
- School Principals
with roles that include:
- establishing collaborative training programs with K-12 schools
- choosing nonbiased, gender inclusive textbooks and curriculum for tschool districts.
- contributing to and creating gender fair curriculum approaches
- working to influence societal gender constructs within various governmental agencies, such as:
- California State Department of Education, Education Equity office
- California Arts Council
- Sacramento County Office of Education
