Sacramento State’s College of Business Administration has earned another five years of business accreditation.
The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) informed the college of the recognition during the summer.
“Earning and maintaining accreditation from AACSB requires rigorous scholarship, exceptional teaching and strong commitment to meet the organization’s standards of excellence,” says Pierre Balthazard, dean of the College of Business Administration. “Our faculty and staff make that commitment every day and deliver an incredible business education to our students.”
Sac State’s College of Business Administration (CBA) was first accredited by AACSB in 1963 and has met the stringent standards and maintained this accreditation every year since. Fewer than 5 percent of business schools worldwide have earned the distinction of excellence in management education. The CBA consistently achieves its stated fundamental goal of cultivating excellence in its graduates and developing business leaders who have top management skills and a broad understanding of their responsibilities to business and community. It issued 968 degrees, 800 of those undergrad, in 2015-16, the last year for which official numbers are available from the University’s Office of Institutional Research
Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. AACSB accreditation is considered the hallmark of excellence in business education.
“I want to thank the AACSB and our academic peers for recognizing the CBA at Sac State and the accomplishments of our faculty, staff, students, and alumni,” Balthazard says. “We are very proud to have earned this honor, which is another milestone in our continued growth and development.” – Ahmed V.
