Sacramento State has a new dean of its College of Continuing Education. Helen Wussow, former dean of Lifelong Learning at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia, begins her new duties Monday, July 25.
The announcement was made by Ming-Tung “Mike” Lee, Sacramento State’s interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs.
At Simon Fraser, Wussow oversaw online course offerings, evening and weekend degree completion programs, and education outreach initiatives, including assistance for aboriginal students to enter the health care professions.
Wussow also previously served as an associate dean at New York University, assistant dean at Brooklyn College, and assistant vice president of academic affairs at the University of Memphis, where she set priorities for summer sessions, reorganized the honors program, and served as ombudsperson.
She has degrees from Minnesota State University, Moorhead; and the University of Oxford; and has published widely on Virginia Woolf, D.H. Lawrence, and feminist literary theory.
“Dr. Wussow is a welcome addition to the CCE team. Her enthusiastic and visionary leadership qualities have prepared her well to lead the college in meeting the strategic interests of the University and the workforce needs of our region and beyond,” Lee says. – Craig Koscho
