Sacramento State’s fabulous – and free – spring Art Ball returns this year with a lineup of paintings, sculptures, receptions, and performance work.
The annual art affair will run from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 13, in various locations around campus. Several rooms have to be set aside to hold all the impressive artworks produced by the University’s students.
A reception with refreshments will be held in the Kadema Hall breezeway. Works by graduating seniors in Studio Art are on display through May 16 in the Robert Else and Witt galleries. Graduate student Chelsea Thompto, who is earning a master's degree in Studio Art, has a solo exhibition, Embodying, in the Library Gallery Annex through May 21.
Ceramics will be displayed outside between Kadema 101 and 131. Printmaking students will have their works up for perusal in Kadema 104 and in the breezeway display cases. Other student works in a variety of media will be exhibited in Kadema 268 and 266, and Mariposa Hall 1007.
Paintings and sculptures also will be on display inside the studio classrooms at the Art Sculpture Lab. The lab’s parking lot will feature a return engagement of Hostage, the series of outdoor performance pieces that premiered at the April 14 U-Create! Street Faire.
