Former Assembly Member Roger Dickinson has joined Sacramento State’s College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies (SSIS) as a practitioner-in-residence.
In the role, he will counsel students on careers in public service, mentor faculty, deliver classroom lectures, and serve on the task force planning the college’s Downtown School of Public Affairs.
“This is the first time the University has brought in someone with this designation, and it’s going to a very exciting collaboration,” says SSIS Dean Orn Bodvarsson. “Mr. Dickinson has spent all of his career in the California policy world, as a public servant and as a private attorney. He knows intimately how policy in this state is crafted, implemented, and analyzed.”
Dickinson was a public servant for four decades. He represented the 7th District in the State Assembly, and he also served as a consumer protection advocate and a Sacramento County supervisor. His role as practitioner-in-residence will continue through June 2016. – Dixie Reid
