-----Growing up I was surrounded by both the city of Fairfield and the city of Suisun, although my mom, dad, younger brother and I lived in an area which was considered to be only in Solano County. Appreciating the 2 1/2 and 5 acre lots found in the area, the four kids who lived next door, and my brother and I made good use of our adjoining property. We spent endless summer hours creating mansions in the remains of the old almond orchard and sailing our ship, made from crates, down the creek which flows along the rear of our land. During the rainy seasons, the six of us would get bundled up in water resistant clothing and go splash through the deep, rain filled pot holes in our dirt and gravel road.
-----While I enjoyed playing with my friends, my favorite past-time was reading, especially fairy tales. Whether curled up near the fire on cold winter days or laying in the shade of the old sycamore tree on summer days, I would always have a book filled with enchanting stories close by. As an adult, I have tried to recapture the carefree, make believe world of my childhood by reading children's, young adult and adult fantasy novels, which entertain their audiences with fantastic and imaginary lands, magic and of course a good hero or heroine to outsmart the mandatory evil villain/sorcerer.
-----Well, now that I am finishing my Liberal Studies degree, I have had a revelation and decided that I did not want to teach a class room full of children because as much as I love them, I prefer children in moderation. Through careful consideration, regarding my career options, I realized that my idea of the perfect job involved reading fiction all day. Convinced that a career like that did not exist, I resigned myself to searching for an acceptable job. Then I had a brain storm and thought about publishing companies. They need people to edit and read books so the companies can make decisions about publishing them, and I am just the person for the job. After two years of reading science fiction combined with my love for fantasy, my goal is to work for a company, who publishes science fiction and fantasy novels.
