If
you guessed El Dorado County, you're correct. This California
Wine Tourism postcard-perfect view is of Lava
Cap Winery.
Higher altitudes
give this wine region a very distinctive appearance and unique growing
conditions - in fact, the vineyards are the highest altitude
vineyards in the country, some over 3,000 feet high. Visitors
will find quite a few wineries making 100% cabernet franc,
something not as common in Napa and Sonoma. Even odder is the
nebbiola, a very dry red wine, made by Madroņa
Vineyards.
Let this one age for at least five years before drinking it
and you'll have something incredibly special. Visitors to El
Dorado County will find a wide variety of agri-tourism
possiblities alongside the wine. Apples orchards, pumpkin
patches and Christmas Tree farms are also open for
visitation. |
