For putting equations into your word processing documents for Microsoft
Word, try using the equation editor function. Go to the Insert
menu
and select Object. In a table that will come up next, select
Equation
#, where the pound sign is the version of equation editor that is used
by Microsoft Word. Other word processing programs will often also
have an equation editor in them. Some quick key strokes that may
save you some time.
These commands may vary with the font that is used and the program
for the commands at the bottom.
The command that require the Option key do not work on Windows machines. Instead you have to use the Unicode codes with the alt key.

Lab 5: Plastic Deformation

This web site has the free image processing software (NIH Image) for the Mac. Good for particle size distributions. Does more advanced image calculations such as subtractions, Fourier transforms, and has other image processing routines.
This web site has the beta version for a PC NIH Image. Click on the "Download Scion Image Processing Software" button at the bottom of the page.
