The Sacramento Composite Economic Area is a five county (Amador, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer and Sacramento Counties) entity that ended 2008 with an annual average of 972.2 thousand employed persons. This was a 0.2% decrease over the annual average 974.2 thousand employed persons in 2007. The annual average number of persons employed in the Sacramento CEA is forecasted, based on actual data through December, 2008, to decrease by 0.38% to 968.5 thousand in 2009. |
Unemployment |
The annual Unemployment Rate for the Sacramento CEA was 7.0% in 2008, up from the 5.3% rate in 2007. The average annual rate for 2009, based on actual data through December, 2008, is expected to increase to 7.7%. |
Taxable Sales |
Taxable Sales at all Outlets in the five county Composite Economic Area posted a $700. million decrease in 2007 (an decline of 2.2%) to a total of $28.4 billion, an reversal the 1.1% growth in 2006. The forecast for 2008, based on actual data through the 4th quarter, 2007, is a decline of 10.5%, followed by another 2.4% decrease in 2009. |
