15Feb09: The total number of jobs in all industries in the 11 county Sacramento Economic Area declined 0.6% (-6,760 jobs) in 2008, down from the 0.8% increase in 2007. The forecast for 2009, based on data through December, 2008, is a slower decline of -0.3% (-3,533 job) decrease. |

15Feb09: The annual average Unemployment Rate for the Economic Area in 2008 was 7.6%, up from the 5.8% in 2007. The Sacramento Economic Area's annual Unemployment Rate for 2009, based on actual data through December, 2008, is forecast to be up to 8.2%. |
Taxable Sales |
15Feb09: The growth in Taxable Sales from all Outlets in the eleven county Sacramento Economic Area ended in 2006 with a 1.5% ($600 million) increase. Sales declined 1.6% ($650. million) in 2007. The forecast for 2008, based on actual sales data through the 4th quarter of 2007, is for an even larger decline of 3.86% ($1.5 billion), followed by a smaller -1.7% ($670. million) decrease in 2009. |
