The tsEdit Basics

The tsEdit window presents the user with a 2-dimensional graph on which time series data (actually any 2-dimensional data) can be entered and edited.

If tsEdit is started without an initial file, the program uses 3 random points for the initial plot.

The graph consists of two related sets of data points:

Moving Knots

Knots can be moved by dragging them. When the cursor is over a knot, a vertical broken line appears indicating that the knot can be selected and dragged. The relative position of the knots can not be changed if an interpoated curve is being drawn. In other words, a knot cannot be dragged past another knot.

Adding Knots

Knots can be added by

  1. Selecting Edit>Add Knots from the menu bar,
  2. Clicking the Add Knots button on the toolbar, AddButton or
  3. Pressing Ctrl-Q on the keyboard.

Any of these actions will change add a "+" to the mouse pointer indicating Add-Knots mode, allowing knots can be added by pointing an clicking. Knots can be moved by dragging them with the Add-Knots cursor.

Deleting Knots

Knots can be deleted by

  1. Selecting Edit>Delete Knots from the menu bar,
  2. Clicking the Delete-Knots button on the tool bar, DelButtonor
  3. Pressing Ctrl-W on the keyboard.

Any of these actions will change the mouse pointer to Delete-Knots mode allowing knots to be deleted by clicking on them.
