The Power of 1,000 Hornets

The Power of 1,000 Hornets is a crowdfunding campaign to raise more than $1 million from 1,000 dedicated Hornets to support a Sacramento State Event Center.

One thousand Hornets—alumni and friends—each pledge to give $1,140 as seed funding for the Event Center. The proposed Event Center will be a modern, multi-use facility that will increase programming and services for activities such as job fairs, speaker presentations, Commencement ceremonies, featured athletics events, competitions, educational sessions and entertainment such as concerts or performing arts. In addition to the programming benefits, this signature venue will increase the University’s connection with the greater Sacramento community, and increase student employment opportunities on campus.

Hornet Club

The Hornet Club's mission is to help recruit and retain top-notch student-athletes. Our goal is to provide private financial support for athletic scholarships, facilities, and other program needs for Sacramento State Athletics. The Hornet Club seeks to bring positive recognition to Sacramento State and the region it serves through a competitive athletics program. This will be accomplished through the offices of Major Gifts, Hornet Club, and Block S Letterwinners Club by developing and cultivating relationships, which encourage private giving by individuals and business that share our values, commitment, passion and vision for Hornet Athletics.

Evolving from the Stingers, the tradition and the missions of the Hornet Club has remained the same — providing critical support for scholarships and funding for student-athletes. Financial contribution translates into academic and athletic support to nearly 500 student-athletes.

Giving Guide

Your support of Sacramento State provides life-changing opportunities for our students, preparing them to be leaders in their professions and communities.

Donor contributions allow the University to offer the affordable, high-quality education that is not possible through state funding alone. It strengthens our ability to offer access to talented faculty who are at the top of their fields, to hands-on learning that translates to real-world applications and to leadership opportunities that motivate well beyond graduation.

You can direct your support to programs and students across campus.
