Matt Kay

As the LMS User Support Lead within the Academic Technology Center, I have been supporting faculty, staff and students on campus for fifteen years. My focus has been working in partnership with faculty and staff to design, develop and implement online course materials (Canvas, SacCT, webpages); and the teaching and learning strategies needed to implement them. My background consists of a B.S. in Computer Science, an M.S. in Education, and over fifteen years in corporate America specializing in project management, software development, training and process management.

Teresa Palmer

I’m Teresa Palmer, Project Manager and ATC team mascot. My role is to coordinate with our wonderful ATC team members to ensure a smooth campus transition from Blackboard to Canvas. I’ve served various roles at Sac State including more than 10 years in the IT world as well as being a double alumna. I love being a part of our Sac State community, seeing the transformative impact technology can have on our environment, and serving as a change agent to improve the education experience in my role as a Project Manager. Go Hornets!

Yuan received a Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Lethbridge, and a Graduate Certificate in instructional Technology from San Diego State University. Also he is pursuing an online master’s degree in Educational Technology, from the Northern Arizona University.

Ed Ruiz

ed.ruiz@csus.edu

I joined Sac State a little over two years ago, and I currently work in the Academic Technology Center as an Instructional Technology Consultant. I hold a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Social Sciences with a focus in Psychology. I am interested in the how and why of human interaction with technology and education. Ask me for my two cents on accessibility and universal design for learning, ePortfolios, Zoom, Office 365, social media, and other great technologies. Or ask me about my Happy Sock collection, my cats, cooking mishaps, or my old life in Boston. Just don’t expect me to say, "Pahk the car in Hahvahd Yahd."

Shawn Sumner

From Locus to WebCT, SacCT (Blackboard), and Canvas, over the years I have helped provide LMS support for faculty. In addition to LMS support, I also help with course evaluations for departments.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, listening to music and taking day trip adventures.

I began my educational and professional career at California State University, Sacramento seventeen years ago, earning a B.S. in Business Administration and B.A. in Communication Studies. Throughout my eleven years as a full-time staff member, I have worked as an Online Course Developer with ATCS to provide training and support to a diverse group of users on the use of academic technology. Recently, I joined the Academic Technology Center team, where I continue to train and support faculty, students and staff; currently in the transition from Blackboard to Canvas. I enjoy learning and staying current in the field of academic technology, thus completed Quality Matters training - Applying the QM Rubric and Peer Reviewer Course in 2016 and earned a Fundamentals of Online Teaching Conference Certificate in 2017. I look forward to meeting and working with you in the development of your courses.
