April is Sac State Alumni and National Volunteer Month! The Sacramento State Alumni Association, Community Engagement Center, Soil Born Farms and Family and Consumer Sciences Department are hosting this Harvest Sacramento volunteer event to engage alumni, campus and the community. 100 volunteers are needed to harvest seasonal fruit throughout the area which will then be donated to local food banks. After the harvest, enjoy a meal at the Harper Alumni Center.

Wednesday, April 5 -Finding Cleveland Experience

Join us for the Finding Cleveland experience, an evening of film, music and discussion featuring alumnus Baldwin Chiu (producer) and Larissa Lam (director and music composer). Finding Cleveland is a documentary short film that follows Charles Chiu and his family on an emotional journey as they take a trip to Cleveland, Mississippi to visit the gravesite of Charles’ father, KC Lou. In less than 48 hours, Charles has many surprising encounters with the local townspeople, who help fill in some blanks about the father he never knew.

Thursday, April 6 - U-Create Street Fair
5:00-9:00 p.m. - Downtown Sacramento (7th and S)
The street faire will take place at Verge Center for the Arts, Axis Gallery, Beatnik Studios and Insight Coffee Roasters and will include a street closure on 7th St between S St and Rice Alley. SactoMoFo food trucks will be onsite with many delicious food options. Join us at 6 p.m. at the outdoor stage for the keynote speech to officially kick off the Festival of the Arts!
April 7 - April 9: Baseball Alumni Reunion Weekend

The Sac State baseball team welcomes back its alumni for the weekend of April 7-9 when the Hornets host Grand Canyon in a WAC series at John Smith Field. Reunion activities include a golf outing on Friday followed by a GCU game; Saturday brings the annual Alumni game, pregame barbeque and another GCU contest; and Sunday will close out the weekend with one last GCU game. Prior to Saturday's game, we will also announce inductions into the Hornet Baseball Hall of Fame. Don't miss out!

Thursday, April 20 - Distinguished Alumni Awards 2017

The Distinguished Alumni Awards are presented jointly by the President of California State University, Sacramento, and the Alumni Association every April. This year we will be honoring seven amazing alumni: Dr. Kimo Ah Yun '90 (Communication Studies); Kraig Clark '91 (Business Administration); Carol Garcia '80 (Family and Consumer Sciences); Dr. Gilbert Herdt, MA '72 (Anthropology); Dr. Andrei Tokmakoff '89 (Chemistry); Dr. Angelo A Williams, MA '06 & '07, Ed.D. '10 (Education) and Ryan M. Harrison, MS '11 (Criminal Justice). More than 275 Sacramento State alumni and community members attend this event each year. This coming together of influence and achievement evokes pride and remembrance among attendees, and is an extraordinary showcase of Sacramento State's impact.
The Business Alumni Chapter and Engineering and Computer Science Alumni Chapter are teaming up to bring you the 2017 Hornet Car and Bike Show. This year's show will feature cars and bikes from different decades, food, music and prizes. Event proceeds will go to support scholarships for students in business and engineering concentrations. Please join us for this fantastic event!
Gala de Oro: Celebrating Latino Excellence aims to foster empowerment, recognize achievement and bring visibility to Latino/a alumni of Sac State. The night will consist of a keynote speaker, exquisite food, entertainment and awards to exceptional alumni. We aim to inspire other Latina/o alumni to give back and be leaders in their own communities.
The Sac State 5K Fun Run is an event for every physical level and ability! This is a run that you will love as you make your way through the Sacramento State campus. This race is open to everyone! Students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members of all ages are welcome to sign up to be a part of this University tradition.
