Interim Assistant Vice President, Academic Enrollment and Resource Planning
Lakshmi Malroutu serves as Interim Assistant Vice President, Academic Enrollment and Resource Planning at California State University, Sacramento, and is responsible for overseeing enrollment management for all colleges including FTES generation, enrollment projections and trends, and space planning and utilization. Her other responsibilities include developing budget allocation models, and providing leadership and support for resource planning, strategic planning, academic policies, academic outreach projects, and special initiatives. In 2007-08, Dr. Malroutu was selected for inclusion in the American Council on Education Fellows Program, the nation’s premier higher education leadership development program. She completed her fellowship at California State University, Northridge in the Office of the President and focused on several key topics: fiscal management and allocation models, assessment and student learning outcomes, teachers for a new era, student recruitment and retention, and international approaches to higher education and administration.
Dr. Malroutu served as Chair and Professor of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, 2001-07; and as Administrative Coordinator for the College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies, 2005-06. Prior to moving to Sacramento State in 2001, Dr. Malroutu was the Unit Administrator, Graduate Coordinator and Associate Professor in the Department of Family, Nutrition, and Exercise Sciences at Queens College, City University of New York. She earned a Ph.D. in Family Resource Management from Oregon State University in 1992. Dr. Malroutu is the recipient of several research grants and has published in the area of financial preparedness of the elderly and college students with emphasis on financial and shelter adequacy during retirement and its impact on the well-being of elderly, acculturation problems and service needs of minority elderly, and money attitudes and behaviors of Asian and Asian-American students.
