University Committee for Persons with Disabilities
- Advise the University, through the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, in achieving its mission to reflect the diverse characteristics of the region with regard to employees and students with disabilities, to foster in all campus members a sense of inclusiveness, respect for human differences, and concern for others, and to encourage the participation of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of University life.
- Advise the President and the Vice Presidents, College Deans, and Strategic Planning Council on CSU Executive Order 926 and applicable federal law and state mandates, as well as the development of priorities, timelines, and resources required to make “reasonable accommodations” for persons with disabilities.
- Assist the University to develop plans to provide full opportunities for persons with disabilities in its programs, activities, and facilities with respect to satisfying their academic, cultural, and social interests and to prepare them for further employment.
- Assist the University in the evaluation, review, and recommendation of campus-wide educational and administrative policies, procedures, and curricula that affect the equal access, retention, and graduation of students with disabilities.
- Assist the University in the evaluation, review, and/or establishment of campus-wide policies or procedures for:
a) state or non-state funded new architectural projects,
b) facility modifications to ensure the safety and equal access for persons with disabilities in university programs and activities,
c) equal access to electronic communications and technology to ensure that all materials and services made available through the use of technology are fully accessible to students, employees, and visitors with disabilities,
d) reviewing barrier removal priorities as specified in the State University Administrator’s Manual (SUAM), and
e) developing timelines as defined in the Campus Self-evaluation and Transition Plans as required by ADA.

Pursuant to the executive order, each campus shall establish a standing committee on Disability Access and Compliance involving the ADA compliance officer/coordinator and representatives from Academic Affairs, Administrative and Business Affairs, Human Resources, Information Technology, Parking, Procurement, Student Affairs, one student representative appointed by the Associated Students, Inc., one faculty member appointed by the Faculty Senate, and one staff representative, to discuss, monitor, and evaluate campus-specific issues relating to compliance with the executive order and applicable federal and state laws and regulations. In addition, the committee membership may include a Director of Services to Students with Disabilities or designee and a Manager of Facilities Services or designee as ex-officio members.
Staff support to the committee is designated by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
